Inspiration for an admissions essay I need to write (more on that will follow during daylight hours) stuck at about 10:07 pm on a Tuesday night. Causing me, at 11:09 pm, to have to explain to my mother why I was sitting in front of my laptop typing like a madman.
"Unfortunately, mother, inspiration has stuck at a most inconvenient time, but sometimes the universe demands to be noticed. And who are we, not to bend to it's every whim?"
They had better let me into this summer camp...

Twenty Four Hours
Twenty four hours from now it will be Friday afternoon, and I will be free.
Twenty four hours from now, I could be sitting in a Chinese restaurant drinking tea and eating one the most delicious spring rolls known to man.
Twenty four hours from now, I could be drinking coffee and reading my 5 inch thick book of Emily Dickinson poems.
Twenty four hours from now, I could be wrapped up in a pile of blankets and pillows watching My Dinner With Andre on my laptop.
Twenty four hours from now, I could be doing a lot of things. But homework will definitely not be one of them.

Symbolism Sunday
Some deep thoughts to chew on:
PS It snowed! Sort of. It's more like a sheet of ice. On a Friday evening. That's 70% melted. Hey, you take what you can get.

Things Suck
This is a true statement. Lots of things suck. And when you're in high school trying not to fail seven classes and go to numerous after school obligations that sneakily add up on you and like to schedule themselves all on the same day of the week, I think it's fair to say that you have significantly more suck in your life than the average person.
Lists are not among the more creative formats of writing, but my brain is suffering from system overload at the moment, so a list is what you get.
My List of Things That Suck
-When a really good song comes on the radio just as you're getting out of the car, and later you can't remember what it was called.
-When you sarcastically insult people, and they don't understand the sarcasm aspect.
-Swearing to kill the person who ate the last muffin, then realizing it was you.
-Videos in drivers ed that reduce half the class to tears
-When you have an absolutely perfect day one day, and the following mediocre day feels horrible by comparison
-The irony of ELO's song Can't Get It Out Of My Head being stuck in your head for multiple days
-Unfinished blog posts that seemed brilliant at the time of writing but somehow never got finished, and the moment has passed
-The fact that I keep changing tenses, and that my English teacher would kill me for what I am did.
-My favorite (and only) youtube channel that I frequently watch has reduced their video uploads to Tuesdays and Fridays, the two days with the greatest distance between them in a high schooler's life.
-When ELO's song Don't Bring Me Down can't even cheer you up.
-Coming back from winter break with a cough, causing everyone to think you took up smoking over the holidays.
-When you start singing Jolene by Dolly Parton (the one song by her I like, because it was in Whip It, not Glee.) to yourself during lunch, and no one pays any attention to you until your voice cracks when you get to the fourth 'Jolene' in the chorus, then suddenly all eyes are on you.
-When you sit for five minutes trying to come up with another item for your list of things that suck, and then take a mental step backwards and realize what you're actually doing, which is what experts might call pathetic.
You get the idea.
