The Moment of Truth

(peeks out cautiously from behind curtain) Hello? Anyone still there?

(tumbleweed rolls auspiciously by)

Ahh, well. I'll just tell you guys anyway.  Primarily, aside from homework, the reason I haven't been blogging much in the past few weeks is that I have been working on an application. There is a summer writing program at a college that I very much would like to attend, and in order to apply you had to write a 300 word essay on why you wanted to go.  I spent many a night on this essay; I even ended up deleting the entire thing and starting over once.

Anyway, long story short, I got a letter from them this afternoon. It was a thin letter.

I weighed my options, seeing as the possibility of disappointment had significantly increased. I could just rip off the proverbial band-aid and open it now, or I could put it away and wait a few days, keeping myself in a rather unpleasant limbic state of suspense.

Naturally, I went with the former.

My eyes slowly scanned the cleanly typed page.

"This letter is to inform you that you have been placed..."

Placed? Placed in? PLACED IN! I'M PLACED IN! Oh, wait..

"...on the Waitlist."

Oh. Awkward.
